January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Human trafficking or “modern slavery” is a crime that forcefully exploits someone through forced labor, marriage, prostitution, and organ removal. Approximately 40.3 million women, children, and men are victims of trafficking globally.
In Texas, traffickers exploit $600 million from an estimated 313,000 victims. Minor and youth sex trafficking costs the State of Texas approx. $6.6 billion.
This January 2020 prayer to unite against human trafficking is our first for the new year and new decade in our quest to transform lives by reconnecting individuals and families with the unconditional, never-ending love of God.
Today’s call is a response to an invitation from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, First Lady Cecilia Abbott, and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to join in a day of prayer on today January 12 to put an end to human trafficking.
