Prayer Call: Heart of Mississippi

This February prayer call for Heart Health Month is for the hearts of Mississippi residents experiencing life challenges and the organizations and leaders who serve them..

Prayer Requests:

• Pray for the residents of Jackson, Mississippi and those affected by the recent flooding.
• Pray for the hearts of advocates both for and against the Heartbeat Bill and the women, men, children, and fetuses impacted.
• Pray for the complete healing and restoration of women, men, teens, and children experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues, incarceration, reentry, and domestic violence.

• 62% of all pregnancies in Mississippi were unintended vs.45% nationally.
• Teen pregnancy rate in Mississippi was 70 per 1,000 vs. 52 per 1,000 nationally.
• 19% or 6,650  of unintended pregnancies in Mississippi result in abortion.
• 18,172 women are released from Mississippi state prisons and jails annually.
• More female than male prisoners experience abuse or trauma as a child or adult.
• Trauma-informed interventions prioritizing women’s empowerment reduce recidivism.
• 1,184 individuals experience homelessness on any given day in MS.

• Pray continued strength through Jesus Christ for the organizations and leaders serving to house, protect, educate, mentor, counsel, and support the most vulnerable throughout Mississippi.
