Self-love hopes all things and remains steadfast during difficult times. But what does that mean really? Hope? The dictionary definition of hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
Throughout scripture, hope depends on God. The word instructs us to hope in God, hope in God’s word, hope in Jesus, hope in God’s promises, hope in salvation through Jesus, hope in the glory of God, hope in God’s grace, and hope in God’s steadfast love. God’s word also elucidates that hope comes from God.
Similar to belief anchored in God, biblical hope is expecting and desiring for the promises of God to happen. Waiting and depending on God – who never fails – rather than on ourselves or another fallible human makes hoping an act of worship rather than a wish predicated upon our circumstance.
May God fill your self-love tanks with blessed hope today.

Self-Love Affirmation
Just for today, I love myself by placing my hope in God. I expect God to do great things in my life. I receive God’s promises. I am a reflection of God’s unconditional love. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am becoming all God created me to be. I love you, [your name here]!
Open and Receive:
- Stand in front of a mirror.
- Look into your eyes.
- Say the affirmation aloud.
- Repeat several times throughout the day.
It may feel strange, but keep trying! Let the truth set you free.

5 Minute Fill-Up
Self-love hopes by expecting God to meet our needs, fill every void, heal every hurt, gift us precious new beginnings for losses and endings, make every challenge beautiful in time, and lead us into a purpose far above and beyond anything we could ever imagine. Hope in God is a choice.
Choose to expect great things. Crank it loud and sing it proud!

Self-Love Nightcap
Holy Spirit asked me to ponder the difference between hoping and wishing today. According to the dictionary:
– Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a CERTAIN thing to happen.
– A wish is a feeling, strong desire, or want for something that CANNOT or probably WILL NOT happen.
The bible speaks of hope being tied to the power and promises of God. The word tells us that God never fails. All things are possible with God. God works all things for our good. God does not delay; He is not slow as us humans define slowness. God never leaves or forsakes us.
Each of these characteristics embody of sense of certainty. If you know that a desire or want is from God, ask God to give you the strength to hold on to it. Listen for His guidance on the next right steps to take.
If you are not sure if a desire aligns with God’s will, go to God in prayer. Ask for clarity, explanation, revelation. Search the bible for answers. Seek out the counsel of a spiritually mature friend, relative, or church leader.
If God has (repeatedly) given you a firm “no” or “not now” or you know that God has closed the door where a particular desire is concerned but you just keep wishing for it to be so (or to be now), could it be that YOU are not certain of God’s good will for your life?
If so, ask God to help you with your unbelief. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. Receiving that truth will set you free from wishing and reconnect you to the eternal hope that only comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.
